Surgery at MD Anderson

It has been a long day, but a successful surgery. Dr. Gershenwald removed two tumors, one about 4 cm deep and another, deeper, about 7 cm. Both look like good candidates for lymphocyte harvesting to create the TIL. We will know in about 4 weeks if the TIL growth is looking good and 8 weeks to know if it is successful and ready for possible use. The plan now is to recover in Houston until Saturday, fly home and start a new treatment in about 2 weeks

We've been thinking about you both all day and wondering about how the surgery went. So glad they were able to remove two of the tumors. We are praying that Ben will feel alright during his recovery and regain strength quickly. Thanks for the update. And now we need those lymphocytes to grow!
All our love,
Amy and John

Glad to hear things went well. Could it just be that you wanted to be in Texas during the week of the Utah v. TCU game? Wear your red down there. Our prayers continue to be with you both.

Hey once the chemo starts I'll have to bring a couple of stationary trainers into your room (ala Lance style)for us to ride together, prepare to get dropped! Not sure if that's possible on a trainer. Ü I figure this is my only chance to get the better of you on the bike. I know I'm gonna pay for this in the future. We love you guys!
